Random Acts of Stupidity of Marilyn & Wilma

The names have been changed to protect the guilty. Marilyn and Wilma are co-workers of The Dog and Cat. The Cast of Characters are explained in Post #2 (March 06).
In case you're wondering - we don't make this stuff up - nor do we exaggerate it. We would never come up with this on our own! We can't laugh out loud at work, so we use this as a way to laugh and vent some of the frustrations.
Do you also have to live/work with stupidity such as this? Leave a comment and let us know!

Happy 50th Marilyn!

Today is Marilyn's 50th birthday.... MG and I (Cat) decorated her cube while she was at lunch.....

MG replaced her chair with a wheelchair....

MG drew a picture of a hill..... and at a point over the hill .... put an "x" with "you are here".....

I made a few copies of "Caution: Over the Hill" (black on yellow), taped them together to make a banner, and put it across her opening.....

Then MG & I put stretch wrap back and forth across the opening..... We wanted to fill it with styrofoam peanuts..... but decided not to because of the mess....

JoeJack called - she told him about it.... and how we used "Saran wrap" over her doorway.... she was a little giddy about it.... which tells us that she liked it..... but would never admit to us....

I read about a good prank to pull with her computer - but didn't have time to do it.... Do a print screen and paste it into "paint" (or other bmp program).... save the file then set it as the desktop.... then put all of the desktop icons into a folder..... when the person starts clicking.... nothing happens! Will let you know when I have time to pull it off.....

Smokin' in the Boys Room

Marilyn paged for MG to call her. When he did, she picked up the phone and said, "meet me in the boys' bathroom."

Aside from the fact that they are meeting there.... Why does she call it BOYS' bathroom????

It's Cold in Here

One department was feeling a little cooler than they wanted so they approached MG about the problem. He checked and discovered that the furnace was blowing cold air but couldn't figure out why.

What he did not discover..... the thermostat was set on "cool" instead of "heat". How smart is that for a maintenance guy?????

e i e i ohhhhh......

For reasons only she knows Marilyn, who will be 50 soon, said to MG, "We're about the same age. How old are you?"

Dog says, "You could be his mother."

MG replies, "Getting ready to turn 39."

Marilyn: "I'm old enough to be Dog's mom."

Cat, just to stir the pot: "Biologically you are old enough to be his mother."

She then goes on to say that she really knew at age 15 what that was and even though "I grew up on a farm and knew about it with the animals I didn't think about it with humans. How should I know about that with people, I was only around my parents and they never did it in front of us."

Dog: "Well, I hope not!"

Just like Old McDonald.... Marilyn had a farm.....

It Might Be Real, So We Will Move 3 Inches Over to Smoke

As a part of the safety plan we do drills for every conceivable emergency. The latest was a bomb drill to see how quickly it would be reported and the building evacuated.

First, we will tell you about last year. Our maintenance guy wasn't very inventive, so the fake bomb was a cardboard box with paper taped to it that said "this is a bomb." It was placed outside the CEO's office and in just a couple of minutes someone saw it, reported it, and the building was evacuated. Succesful drill.

This year was different. We have MG - our new maintenance guy - who took the time to make something to somewhat resemble a bomb for the drill. There's a picture at the bottom of the post.

MG and Marilyn called the police to let them know that if they received a call from our location that it was a drill, then they planted the fake outside the warehouse door where all the smokers gather, including Wilma and Mrs. C. Marilyn knew they were gone to smoke so she was waiting for them to come back right away or call her to report it. When that didn't happen, she went to check on them. They were were waiting until they finished their cigarettes to report it! They said they saw it and talked about the fact that it could be real. Instead of reporting it, they decided to move over a few inches to smoke! Had it been real, those few inches would have made no difference. Needless to say, the drill was a failure.

Here's a picture of the fake....

Part 2 of 3 .... Nitpicking About Workplace Safety Violations

If you haven't read Part 1 of 3 yet, please scroll down and do that before you read this one... part 3 will tie everything together....

Marilyn & MG are having issues again!! MG was mowing around the parking lot where Marilyn parks. Marilyn went out to her vehicle to leave for lunch and saw grass on her back bumper. Upon closer inspection she said it looked like a rock had hit it & chipped the paint away. She contacted the dealership & they told her they would fix it and not charge her for it since there was no dent.

We then got to hear about it all day long. (Yes, it would have upset us too, but would have dropped it once the issue was resolved.) She said that if she had been charged for the paint she would have made MG pay for it out of his pocket. We tried to explain to her that the company would pay for it before MG would.

To get retribution she decided to pick on some safety issues that he doesn't do up to her perfect standards. (After all, she chairs the safety team.) She even gave him deadlines and threatened to write him up over it. All of this because her paint got chipped. We aren't even sure that it was MG who did it. It could have happened somewhere else!

An IM Exchange...

MG has been welding this morning and came to Marilyn to get burn spray from the first aid kit (she is on our safety team and likes to think she's an expert in medical care).

We heard the spray and wondered what Marilyn could be spraying this time, then realized it wasn't Lysol. As soon as MG left the department, Marilyn immediately initiated this IM exchange with Dog:

marilyn says:
what is he welding

dog says:
who knows

dog says:
didn't know he knew how

marilyn says:
JoeJack just plumbed a whole house and didn't need a torch for anything and he also had to remove old plumbing

dog says:
you should go investigate

We went from MG welding & needing first aid to JoeJack plumbing a house in 2 seconds flat!!

Rejection is on its Way!

We have a new maintenance guy - we will give him a name later once we see if he's more that a minor character in our blog - for now we'll just call him MG (for maintenance guy). :)

Marilyn has tried to win him over with her flirty ways. MG has high moral standards and thinks that it is disgusting for a woman to flaunt her body to try to get her way. In fact, he can't stand her. Because they are both on the safety team, they have to deal with each other constantly. MG has only been here a little over a week and has already had enough of her. He goes out of his way so that he doesn't have to deal with her. Marilyn feels that it is her "safety" duty to follow him around to make sure he's doing his job correctly.

She even went so far as having JoeJack take a look at a maintenance item. She knows that its a bigger job than MG can handle and she wants JoeJack to get the bid. MG has made it clear to everyone but Marilyn that he has no intentions of hiring JoeJack as a subcontractor. He knows who JoeJack is and does not trust him, at all. Hmmmmmm, what kind of a character is Marilyn shacked up with??

Someone told Jessica what was going on so she warned Marilyn to back off of MG. Marilyn stated that she did not care and had no intentions of backing down. We are anxiously waiting for the fireworks!! Up until now Marilyn has never met a man that she could not manipulate by showing a little flesh!!
